「我們做這種行業若是冬天在海線這邊工作很艱苦的，風大、又寒；夏天是熱到極點，尤其現在的氣溫都那麼高。早晨七點上工但都差不多八點我們全身都是濕的，那太熱了......。家裡的親人啊，那長時間會跟他們聚少離多，畢竟若是地點較遠方我們就會住在工地，算是這份職業的壞處，但為了生活也是要做啊！」

「瓦匠師有可能到一段時間點也會斷層，這種工作本身就很勞累了，又有它的危險性，因為我們都在高處。現在的少年仔、年輕人，他們怎麼可能要做這個？很少的。」

「跟我做最久的有一個超過三十年了，其他都做十幾年。這手腕都是全年且整天在痠痛啊！這職業病啦！也不用去看醫生啦！看不好，除非這個職業不要做，腰椎骨到現在來也都很酸，鋪設琉璃瓦腰都彎整天的。」

「怎麼說過的好或不好？平安就好啦！身體健康、平安、快樂比較重要。」

————————以上文字取自2024年1月，秋杉所在協同黃嘉文導演、攝影師風宗廷、聲音藝術家許雁婷，於彰化縣二林鎮拍攝琉璃瓦工班之紀錄片，在訪談工班(承宇藝術工程行) 負責人也是臺灣知名琉璃瓦老匠師「林杉融」的對話。

這部作品是關於琉璃瓦匠師，也是關於創作者林廷緒與父親最真摯的故事。

當代舞者之於「高處」是對於職涯有所選擇的追求；瓦匠師之於廟宇的「高處」許多是因為生存的被迫。兩者同是高密度使用身體的勞動者，透過此部創作，試著展開一方世界而特意將他們擺置在一起，並以舞作之名《在最接近天空的地方，做一個人》來形容舞者與瓦匠師的相似之處。

這或是林廷緒與既遠又近的父親，試著紀錄的一種方式；也是秋杉所在多年以來藉由舞蹈肢體，輝映著社會上鮮少被關注的現象、議題，轉譯成創作的一種方式。讓我們靠近一次在最接近天空的地方，和這群勞動者生命的一段路程，舞者用肢體言語來撰寫及詮釋出這則故事的顏色與氣味，透過表演藝術來講述他們這群人用ㄧ生去磨的鐵漢柔情。

This work is about glazed tile workers and the most heartfelt story between the creator Ting-syu Lin and his father.

For contemporary dancers, the "height" is a pursuit in career path while for tile workers, the "height" of temples is often a compulsion for survival. Dancers and tile workers are both laborers who use their bodies intensively. Through this dance production, we try to unfold a world by deliberately placing these two roles together and describing the similarities between them with the work title, "Closest to the Sky, They Toil."

This may be a way for Ting-syu Lin and his distant yet close father to try to record their story. This is also a way for Autumn Cedar Sóo-Tsāi to reflect social phenomena and issues that are rarely given attention through the medium of dance and the body, translating them into a form of creative expression over the years. Let us get close to a journey of these laborers' lives in the place closest to the sky. The dancers use body language to write and interpret the colors and smells of this story, depict this group of people’s inner tenderness beneath their unyielding strength forged through a lifetime of toil through performing arts.

以當代創作來展現舞蹈所存在的社會價值

成立於2019年，創作聚焦臺灣民間文化，藉由鄉間走訪探尋具臺灣草根素材來做為作品的題材與發展面向。透過各式樣態的社會現象與議題，來體現當代身體觀點介入其精神性的可能，也展現舞蹈創作為其反思身體存在的意義。
